ANNUAL AWARDS

 

There are two categories of exhibits which are judged, and for which points are awarded, during the Garden Club year.  These categories are Artistic and Horticulture.

 

At the May Club Luncheon, Annual Awards are presented for First ($12), Second ($9), and Third ($6) Place in the Artistic category.  First ($6), Second ($4), and Third ($3) Place Awards are presented in the Horticulture category.  Awards are based on the accumulated total of points awarded at the monthly judging.

 

RIBBON VALUES

Blue  90 – 100

Yellow  80 - 84

Red   85 -  89 

                    White  Honorable Mention

 

ARTISTIC EXHIBIT RULES

Arrangements must have the exhibitor's name and class not visible to the judges.

Accessories are permitted.

Fresh material must be in water.

 

Considerations

Schedule Conformance -20 points

Design Principles - 5 points in each:

             Balance,

             Contrast

             Dominance

             Rhythm

             Proportion

            Scale

Self Expression, Originality and Interpretation - 40 points

Distinction, Technique and Unusual Materials - 10 points

 

Total 100 points

 

 

 

 

HORTICULTURE EXHIBIT RULES

 

Entries must be grown by the exhibitor.

Potted plants must have been in the possession of the exhibitor at least three months.

Flowering shrubs in bloom must be 12-30 inches in length.

Shrubs must be 12-30 inches in length.

Dwarf shrubs must be 8-12 inches in length.

Camellias must be displayed in a flat dish or pan.

Blooms may be exhibited as a specimen or as a collection.

Dish gardens must be a group of plants which are grown in a single container.

Foliage must be clean and well-groomed but no artificial enhancements are permitted.

Foliage must not be stripped from stem of blooms and stems should be cut in good proportion for the bloom.

Specimen must be placed in water.

Color - 25 points

Form and Shape - 25 points

Substance and Texture - 15 points

Stems and Foliage - 15 points

Size - 5 points

Distinctiveness and Condition - 15 points

 

Total 100 points
