 BASIC SHAPES FOR FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS

BASIC CRESCENT

Ideal in sophisticated modern settings.

Step 1:  Determine length of crescent.  Position line flowers curved to form.  Crescent can be tipped to suit your taste.

Step 2:  Inset focal flowers in center and fairly low to achieve balance and depth.

Step 3:  Fill in around focal point with smaller flowers and foliage, tapering off toward points of crescent.

BASIC OVAL

For decorating accents in traditional or formal settings.

Step 1:  Determine height, then frame in outer edges of oval with colored flowers and foliage.

Step 2:  Create focal point with largest, strongest colored flowers.

Step 3:  Achieve dimension by filling in around focal flowers with    blossoms and foliage.  Soften container rim with leaves and sprays of light colored flowers.

BASIC TRIANGLE

A popular form in modern or traditional backgrounds.

Step 1:  Determine vertical height "A" and width "B".  Be sure width is no greater than height.

Step 2:  Position large flowers in lower center, achieve focal point, and give weight and balance.

Step 3:  Fill in with smaller flowers and foliage - keeping within the triangular frame.
